A chapel at the Lynaugh unit will provide unique and dedicated worship and education center. It will be unlike any other space in the unit. Currently the men at Lynaugh worship and study in the unit gym. It is not airconditioned and uncomfortable during West Texas summers. Audio-visual equipment, band equipment, and seating must be reconfigured throughout the day to accommodate various programs. Many available programs cannot be offered because of limited space.
The chapel will be both a worship and education center. Current facilities are not heated or cooled and do not provide adequate space for classes. It is anticipated the new chapel will be used throughout the day, seven days a week. Men will be introduced to a loving and forgiving God allowing for positive changes in their lives and the future for their families. Many in incarceration grew up in single-parent homes and never knew there could be a different path for their lives. This is an opportunity to impact generations to come and end the cycle of incarceration.

denominational chapel at the Lynaugh Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ ) near Ft. Stockton, Texas . Top official s with TDCJ in Huntsville have given their blessings to proceed with this project.
Prison Chapels is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation which will allow for your tax-deductible
contributions. Major funding is expected to be provided by foundations, churches,
businesses, and many individual supporters.
